Manipur Police have detained 19 individuals for their alleged involvement in street violence and public disturbances in Imphal East District. The arrests were made following reports of road blockades, harassment of commuters, and anti-social behaviour most of it under the influence of alcohol.

In an official statement issued by the Manipur Police, it was stated that, “These individuals were found blocking roads, harassing the general public, and disrupting public order. Such actions not only inconvenience law-abiding citizens but also pose a threat to public peace and safety.”

The police emphasized the consequences of such behaviour, particularly to the youth. “We urge all, especially the youth, to steer clear of unlawful and anti-social activities. Engaging in such acts can result in legal consequences that may adversely affect one’s future and career prospects,” the statement added.

Manipur Police further reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace “We remain steadfast in our duty to ensure the safety, peace, and well-being of all citizens. We appreciate the continued support of the public in maintaining law and order,” the statement concluded.

The police have not yet released the identities of those detained but confirmed that legal proceedings are underway.
