Four Liquor Sellers Arrested in Thoubal, 49 Liters of Illicit Liquor Seized
A team from Thoubal Police Station apprehended four liquor sellers on Sunday evening as part of an ongoing crackdown on the sale of illicit liquor. The arrests were made around 4:45 PM from different locations in Thoubal district, and a total of 49 liters of Distilled Indigenous Country (DIC) liquor was seized during the operation.
Among those arrested is Konthoujam Soni Devi (30), wife of K. Premjit Singh from Thoubal Melaground, who was found in possession of eight liters of DIC liquor. Another woman, Asem Landhoni Devi (54), wife of A. Mani Singh from Thoubal Haokha, was caught with seven liters of illicit liquor. The police also apprehended Akoijam Manao Singh (50), son of Ak. Bira Singh from Nongangkhong Maning Leikai, who was found with 18 liters of DIC liquor, and Soibam Basanti Devi (57), wife of S. Bagirath Singh from Haokha Mamang Leikai, who was in possession of 16 liters.
The individuals were picked up from their respective locations and taken into custody by the Thoubal Police. Authorities have stated that further legal proceedings will be initiated against them.
