Following the resignation of N Biren Singh as Chief Minister, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is engaged in intense political discussions to finalize his successor. BJP Northeast Coordinator Sambit Patra is leading efforts to build a consensus, holding one-on-one meetings with party MLAs and ministers in Imphal. This leadership change comes at a crucial time for the state, as the party seeks to restore stability and address the ongoing crisis.<\/p>\n

BJP Holds Key Meetings to Select New CM<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sambit Patra, the BJP’s Northeast Coordinator, is conducting one-on-one discussions with BJP MLAs and ministers at Hotel Imphal to finalize a consensus candidate for the Chief Minister\u2019s post. Key BJP figures participating in the discussions include Thokchom Radheshyaam, Thounaojam Basanta, Thokchom Satyabrata, Thounaojam Shyamkumar, Awangbou Newmai, Yumnam Khemchand, Dinganglung Gangmei, Losii Dikho, and Security Adviser Kuldiep Singh. After completing the deliberations, Patra left the venue.<\/p>\n

NPP Manipur Backs NDA<\/strong><\/p>\n

Earlier, the National People’s Party (NPP) withdrew its support from the N Biren Singh government, citing his failure to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur. However, the NPP has reaffirmed its alliance with the NDA. Sheikh Noorul Hassan, Working President of the NPP Manipur Unit, stated:<\/p>\n

“NPP has withdrawn support from N Biren Singh\u2019s government. We do not believe in his leadership due to his failure to restore normalcy and peace in Manipur. His resignation as Chief Minister is a welcome step toward bringing stability to the state. We remain part of the NDA alliance at the Centre and will continue to cooperate with the BJP to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur<\/em><\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Final Decision Rests with BJP High Command<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amid growing anticipation, BJP MLA Yumnam Khemchand Singh has reiterated that the final decision on the next Chief Minister will be taken by the party\u2019s high command. He stated:<\/p>\n

“We will accept the decision made by the party’s high command regarding the next Chief Minister of Manipur.<\/em><\/strong>”<\/p>\n
