TENGNOUPAL, March 19: In observance of the upcoming International Day of Forests 2025, the Tengnoupal Forest Division organized a Foot Rally at the Tengnoupal District Headquarters to spread awareness about the significance of forests in ensuring food security and ecological balance.<\/p>\n

The rally was flagged off by Shri Krishna Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Tengnoupal District, and Smt. Mahamuda Begum, Divisional Forest Officer, Tengnoupal Forest Division, in the presence of Shri Rahul Gupta, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Tengnoupal District, Col. Shishir Pandey, Commandant, 3 AR, Shri SK John Lamkang, MPS, Dy. SP (HQ) Tengnoupal, and Shri Vijay Singh, AC, D\/124 Bn, Ad hoc M&C XIII.<\/p>\n

Personnel from Assam Rifles (3 AR), District Police, BSF (D\/124 Bn), teachers, and students from St. Peter\u2019s School and Maha High School actively participated in the rally, marching together to emphasize the need for forest conservation and sustainable development.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Following the rally, a tree plantation drive was conducted where dignitaries, teachers, and students planted saplings to reaffirm their commitment to environmental preservation.<\/p>\n

The event concluded with an interactive session led by Divisional Forest Officer Smt. Mahamuda Begum, who spoke on this year\u2019s theme\u2014”Forest and Food.” She emphasized that forests serve as the backbone of global food security and nutrition, supporting millions of livelihoods, especially in indigenous and rural communities. She also highlighted the growing threats to forest ecosystems and the urgent need to protect and restore them for the well-being of future generations.<\/p>\n

The initiative successfully engaged the community in understanding the vital role of forests and reinforced the need for sustainable forest management to combat climate change and biodiversity loss.<\/p>\n
