Maligaon, 25th March 2025: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has achieved a major milestone in its electrification drive by completing 100% electrification of the Alipurduar Division (APDJ), reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and modern railway infrastructure. Meanwhile, electrification work in the Tinsukia Division (TSK) is progressing steadily.<\/p>\n

The final phase of electrification in APDJ was completed with the successful electrification of the Fakiragram\u2013Golakganj section (46 RKM \/ 50.536 TKM) and the New Coochbehar\u2013Dinhata\u2013Bamanhat sections (49.81 RKM \/ 55.71 TKM). This transformation includes major infrastructure upgrades such as SCADA implementation, trip unit rating supply at stations, and successful electric locomotive trials. The trial run, which began at 19:16 hours, concluded at 20:11 hours when the electric loco arrived at Fakiragram, marking the readiness of the division for electric train operations.<\/p>\n

Simultaneously, the electrification of the Mariani\u2013Jorhat Town section in the Tinsukia Division is advancing, covering 18.215 RKM \/ 22.725 TKM. Critical infrastructure, including substations, auxiliary transformers, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, is being actively developed. Additionally, electrification of level crossings and over-line structures has been successfully completed.<\/p>\n

With these developments, NFR is making significant strides in India’s “Mission Electrification” initiative, aiming for 100% electrification and net-zero carbon emissions.
