In a major crackdown on extortion activities across Manipur, security forces arrested two active cadres of the banned outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-Noyon) on Saturday. The arrests were made during intelligence-based combing operations and cordon and search efforts being carried out extensively throughout the state.<\/p>\n
The arrested individuals have been identified as Shagolshem Lemba Meitei (43) and Shagolshem Romen Meitei (40), both residents of Loushangkhong Makha Leikai in Imphal East District. They were apprehended near the Sawombung Gate, close to the Forest Office, under the jurisdiction of Lamlai Police Station. According to police reports, the duo was actively involved in collecting extortion money to fund the operations of their outlawed group.<\/p>\n
During the operation, authorities seized a four-wheeler, two mobile phones, and two wallets from the arrested individuals.<\/p>\n
In a separate operation conducted the same day, Manipur Police launched a special drive to recover stolen and snatched vehicles. The drive led to the recovery of seven vehicles from anti-social elements.
