The session brought together key district officials, civil society organizations, and local leaders to review progress and set new directives for the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting focused on critical agendas, including the construction of waste collection centres, rationalization of waste collection routes, maintaining an inventory, penalizing illegal dumping into the Senapati River, banning single-use plastics (SUPs), and constituting a dedicated task force for river cleanliness.<\/p>\n<p>Welcoming the gathering, DC Mamoni Doley praised the collective efforts made so far and addressed the serious problem of rampant waste dumping under the Senapati bridge. She informed that barricades had been installed at major black spots to prevent illegal dumping and instructed village chairmen and secretaries to immediately notify encroachers to halt all construction activities along the riverbanks. Regular inspections by the newly formed task force and the district administration are set to begin shortly.<\/p>\n<p>The DC also urged village authorities to identify suitable roadside plots for the construction of waste collection centres under the MGNREGA Solid Waste Management provisions.<\/p>\n<p>Present at the meeting were Rang David Kung, MCS, Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Senapati; Adahrii Maheo, MCS, CEO\/ADC, Senapati; P.P. Ronald, MCS, Project Director, DRDA; Thangkhochon Haokip, MPS, ADSP; and representatives from civil society organizations including the NPO, SDWA, SDSA, along with members of the Karong Senapati Town Committee and various locality leaders.<\/p>\n<p>Providing an update on the campaign&#8217;s progress, CEO\/ADC Adahrii Maheo reported that the initial river cleaning drive started in October\u2013November 2024, led by the Karong Senapati Town Committee, and a second mass drive in February\u2013March 2025 resulted in the collection of nearly 70 tonnes of garbage along an 8-kilometre stretch.
