In a significant operation against insurgent activities, a team of the Special Commando Unit under the command of Subedar L. Bebekananda Singh, Officer-in-Charge of the Special Commando Unit, Khabeisoi, conducted a cordon and search operation in the Wangkhei Ayangpali area around 5:00 pm today. The operation was launched following an input received from 4 Assam Rifles regarding the presence of suspected underground (UG) cadres in the locality.<\/p>\n
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Dr. S. Ibomcha Singh, MPS, Commanding Officer of the 6th IRB and In-Charge of the Special Commando Unit. During the operation, at around 5:30 pm, one individual was detained for verification from the residence of one Oinam Milan Singh.<\/p>\n
Upon verification, the detainee identified himself as Oinam Milan Singh (53), son of Late O. Kokngang Singh of Wangkhei Hijam Leirak. He reportedly confessed to being a Project Officer of the proscribed outfit PREPAK-PRO and claimed to be working under one self-styled (s\/s) Lamtakpa of the same group. According to the police, he has been involved in extortion and issuing threats to government offices and civilians to raise funds for the insurgent group.<\/p>\n
Further inquiries revealed that the individual had been previously arrested in 2007 by City Police Station, in 2021 by Lamlai Police Station, and again in 2024 by CDO-IW.<\/p>\n
Items seized from his possession include two mobile phones (iPhone 13 and iPhone 7), a small amount of cash (Rs. 200 and Rs. 100 x 2), and a sky blue A-Star car bearing registration number MN07D-0574.<\/p>\n
The individual was formally arrested at 6:30 pm after completing all legal formalities. He, along with the seized items, has been handed over to Porompat Police Station for further legal action.<\/p>\n
