In a major boost to the Northeast’s railway infrastructure, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has successfully completed the redevelopment of Haibargaon Railway Station in Assam under the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The upgraded station now stands as a model of modernity, accessibility, and inclusivity.<\/p>\n

Originally established in 1887, the historic Haibargaon station in Nagaon district plays a key role in regional connectivity. The redevelopment has transformed it into a passenger-centric hub, significantly improving the travel experience while revitalizing the local economy.<\/p>\n

The overhaul includes:<\/p>\n

  1. A modern station entrance and aesthetic fa\u00e7ade<\/li>\n
  2. Structured parking, widened pedestrian pathways, and dedicated pick-up\/drop-off zones<\/li>\n
  3. An enhanced waiting hall adorned with local art<\/li>\n
  4. Modular toilets, a baby feeding room, and a kids’ play area<\/li>\n
  5. Special amenities for Divyangjan, such as ramps, tactile tiles, and accessible toilets<\/li>\n
  6. Improved platform design, lighting, and passenger information systems<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In addition, kiosks under the “One Station One Product” initiative promote local artisans, while eco-friendly landscaping enhances the station\u2019s visual appeal. The redevelopment also features commercial spaces, a tourist facilitation centre, and a community park with a pond.<\/p>\n

    Despite geographical challenges like monsoon-related flooding, NFR tackled issues with strategic drainage and elevated infrastructure planning.<\/p>\n
