IMPHAL | May 24, 2025 \u2014 In a powerful show of unity and resistance, thousands of people from diverse walks of life formed a massive human chain today along the Imphal West Tiddim Road, stretching from Changangei Uchekon to Kwakeithel. The protest, organized under the banner \u201cManipur Muthatpa Yaroi\u201d (Do Not Obliterate Manipur), aimed to safeguard the territorial integrity and unique identity of Manipur.<\/p>\n
The demonstration, held from 11 AM onwards, was jointly led by five major organizations: All Manipur United Clubs\u2019 Organisation (AMUCO), Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM), All Manipur Women Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA), Committee on Human Rights (COHR), and the Manipuri Students\u2019 Federation (MSF).<\/p>\n
Participants included school and college students, teachers, local clubs, Meira Paibis, civil society members, intellectuals, and social activists. Together, they raised slogans and held placards bearing strong messages such as:<\/p>\n
Speaking on behalf of the organizers, Abhijeet Kabrabam, Publicity Secretary of MSF, emphasized that the protest is a public warning against any policy that threatens Manipur\u2019s territorial integrity or social fabric. He reaffirmed that the people of Manipur will not compromise their identity and will resist all attempts to fragment the state.<\/p>\n
The protest was described as peaceful yet firm, reflecting the people\u2019s growing anxiety over recent developments perceived as undermining the state’s autonomy and character. The mass mobilization was also hailed as a collective call to the central government to respect the rights and sentiments of the indigenous people of Manipur.<\/p>\n
