The Public Health & Engineering Department (PHED), Manipur, has officially launched its first-ever online billing portal ([https:\/\/bills.phedmanipur.com](https:\/\/bills.phedmanipur.com)) for water tariff payments in the Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) and Greater Imphal areas. The launch event took place at the Conference Hall of PHED\u2019s main office in Khoyathong, Imphal West.<\/p>\n
The portal enables registered consumers and those with water meters to pay their bills online. A trial run of the system began in January 2025, during which 50,498 water meters were installed, generating revenue of \u20b991,53,849 so far.<\/p>\n
Key features of the portal include accurate and transparent billing, 24\/7 access to past bill history, multiple digital payment options, and the convenience of paying from home. Users will also receive instant alerts for new bills and due dates, as well as access to information promoting water conservation. A quick grievance redressal mechanism has been integrated to improve customer satisfaction, while reducing the department\u2019s reliance on manpower for bill preparation and distribution.<\/p>\n
A new tariff system based on household water consumption is expected to be introduced soon. Consumers can also apply for new water connections online or contact the helpline number 080-4567-4629 for assistance.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the launch, PHED Secretary Shri Hungyo Worshang (IAS) emphasized that the current focus is on IMC and Greater Imphal areas. He urged residents to approach Water Supply Maintenance Division No. I (Khoyathong Office) for Imphal West and Division II (Porompat Office) for Imphal East to install new meters.<\/p>\n
