The demand revealed the growing impatience among state legislators over the prolonged period of President’s Rule, which has been in effect since the collapse of the previous government earlier this year.

During a closed-door meeting held at Manipur Bhavan, Sardar Patel Marg, New Delhi, the MLAs reportedly conveyed to Dr. Patra that the political vacuum in the state has deepened public frustration, weakened administrative efficiency, and left governance paralyzed. They insisted that the party must either restore a democratic government led by a consensus BJP leader or dissolve the Assembly and pave the way for a fresh mandate.

However, Dr. Patra, while acknowledging their grievances, advised caution and urged the legislators to build political consensus among all key communities Meitei, Naga, Pangal, and Kuki before any decisive move could be made. Sources close to the meeting said Patra emphasized that the Centre aims to ensure that the next government represents an inclusive political arrangement, sensitive to the ethnic complexities of Manipur’s post-conflict scenario.

Despite the assurance, the MLAs reportedly left the meeting dissatisfied and unconvinced about the Centre’s timeline. Some members expressed concern that the delay is eroding the BJP’s grassroots credibility in the state. A few are said to be exploring collective strategies to intensify pressure on the party’s top leadership.

Adding to the intrigue, Dr. Patra is believed to have hinted that the MLAs could meet senior Central leaders only after the Bihar Assembly elections, suggesting that immediate consultations at the national level are unlikely. This statement has been interpreted by insiders as a sign that the withdrawal of President’s Rule is not imminent.

Nonetheless, highly reliable sources in Delhi indicate that significant progress has been made in backchannel negotiations. It is now being speculated that the new Manipur government could be formally constituted by November 20, following the Bihar polls. Senior BJP functionaries are said to be working on a revised leadership formula, one that balances regional representation and appeases rival factions within the state unit.

As discussions continue behind closed doors, all eyes remain on Delhi. The next few weeks are likely to determine whether Manipur will finally witness the return of a popular government or slide further into political uncertainty.

The ongoing political uncertainty in Manipur has taken a tense turn as 25 BJP MLAs have urged BJP Northeast Coordinator Dr. Sambit Patra to recommend dissolution of the Manipur Legislative … Read More

[32,49
250,52,251
post-4151","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-inn","category-politics","tag-bjp-mlas","tag-manipur","tag-popular-government","entry
["GET
