The District Magistrate of Tamenglong, Dr. L. Angshim Dangshawa, has issued a strict order banning the hunting, killing, catching, or selling of the migratory bird species Amur Falcon (Falco amurensis) across Tamenglong District and its adjoining areas with immediate effect.<\/p>\n
The order, issued under Sections 50 and 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, came following a request from the Divisional Forest Officer, Tamenglong Forest Division, to ensure protection and conservation of the migratory Amur Falcons during their seasonal arrival in the district.<\/p>\n
As the birds arrive in Tamenglong and nearby areas from the first to the second week of October and stay until the end of November, the District Magistrate has also directed that all air guns within the district be deposited with respective Village Authorities for safe custody until the last flock departs or until November 30, whichever is earlier.<\/p>\n
Village authorities of several areas, including Chiuluan, Tamenglong Town, Khunjao, Bamgaijang, Sangrungpang, Dailong, and others, have been instructed to ensure compliance and report to the district office by October 30, 2025.<\/p>\n
