A joint press conference was held today at the office of the All Meitei Pangal Youth Association (AMPYA), Kwakta, jointly organised by AMPYA, Anjuman Islah-e-Mausara, All Kwakta Youth Voluntary Organisation (AKYVO), All Kwakta Civil Organisation Council (AKCOC) and Jamiatul Ulama (Arshadi).<\/p>\n
The press conference addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding the \u201cIndigenous Pillar\u201d erected by the Federation of Haomee.<\/p>\n
During the press meet, Ayazuddin Fundreimayum, Publicity Secretary of Anjuman Islah-e-Mausara, stated that the pillar must be modified to include the Meitei Pangal community, which was officially recognised by the Government of Manipur as an indigenous people of the state through a gazetted notification.<\/p>\n
He questioned the authority under which the Federation of Haomee erected the pillar, excluding the Meitei Pangal community, and demanded clarification from the four MLAs who participated in the inauguration ceremony. He further stated that the MLAs should take responsibility either to include Meitei Pangal in the pillar or to remove it entirely.<\/p>\n
