The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson of the District Health Society, Bishnupur, Smt. Pooja Elangbam.<\/p>\n<p>Organized by the District Health Society, the meeting witnessed active participation from committee members and stakeholders. In her address, DC Pooja Elangbam highlighted that Soil-Transmitted Helminths (STH) continue to be a major public health concern, particularly among children. She stressed that worm infections affect nutrient absorption, leading to anaemia, malnutrition, and hindered physical and mental development. She urged all departments to ensure maximum coverage of children aged 1\u201319 years during the upcoming deworming campaign.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4503\" src=\"https:\/\/ichelnewsnetwork.com\/Ichel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/d1-4-300x126.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"126\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4502\" src=\"https:\/\/ichelnewsnetwork.com\/Ichel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/d1-2-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dr. John Kh., Paediatrician at District Hospital Bishnupur, served as the resource person and elaborated on the objectives of the National Deworming Day.
