Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur, Smt. Pooja Elangbam, chaired a meeting with religious leaders of the district to initiate a 100-day intensive campaign aimed at preventing child marriage in Bishnupur.<\/p>\n

The meeting, held at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat Complex, was attended by officials from the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Child Social Welfare Officers (CSWO), representatives from New Life Foundation, Manipur, and various religious leaders, including pujaries and pastors.<\/p>\n

Addressing the gathering, DC Pooja Elangbam underscored that child marriage is both illegal and detrimental to children\u2019s welfare. She urged all stakeholders to work collectively toward making Bishnupur a child marriage-free district and a model for others.<\/p>\n

During the session, the Deputy Commissioner also administered a pledge reaffirming the participants\u2019 commitment to ending child marriage and protecting children\u2019s rights. The attendees vowed to report any such cases and raise awareness on its harmful effects, particularly on girls\u2019 education and health.<\/p>\n
