The District Health Society (DHS), Pherzawl, on Thursday conducted a Rabies Awareness and Deworming Drive at Government High School, Senvon, under the Sardar@150 initiative. The programme aimed to educate students and the community about the dangers of rabies and the importance of preventive health measures.<\/p>\n

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Hmanglamkhup Kom, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Pherzawl, expressed concern over the increasing cases of dog bites across several districts, some leading to fatalities. He stressed the need for immediate first aid and timely medical attention following any suspected rabid dog bite, urging people to seek anti-rabies vaccination without delay.<\/p>\n

Dr. Kom also appealed to pet owners to vaccinate their dogs between 14 to 16 weeks of age and continue annual booster doses to prevent the spread of rabies.<\/p>\n

As part of the programme, DHS launched the second round of deworming drug distribution for students in the PHC Senvon area, reinforcing the district\u2019s ongoing public health initiatives aimed at improving hygiene and overall well-being.<\/p>\n
