Manipur Police have clarified that the recent altercation involving a group of Muslim youths and local villagers at Shangkai Village in Ukhrul district was a case of sudden provocation and misunderstanding, not a communal clash.<\/p>\n
According to a police statement, a group of Muslim youths had reportedly organized a bike ride to Mova Cave in Ukhrul district on Wednesday. On their return journey towards Imphal, some of the bikers stopped at a shop in Shangkai Village, where a heated exchange of words broke out between the bikers and local youths.<\/p>\n
Police said the situation escalated due to a language barrier and misunderstanding, leading to a brief physical confrontation. Local police promptly intervened upon receiving reports of the altercation, and an amicable understanding was later reached between both groups in the presence of the Officer-in-Charge of Litan Police Station.<\/p>\n
An enquiry conducted by the police indicated that the incident was spontaneous in nature and devoid of any communal intent.
