The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, marked World Diabetes Day 2025 with a special health awareness programme held at the New General OPD Block today.<\/p>\n

The event began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, officially launching the day\u2019s activities. This year\u2019s theme, \u201cDiabetes and the Workplace<\/strong>,\u201d highlighted the growing burden of diabetes among working populations.<\/p>\n

As part of the observance, RIMS offered free medical consultations, diabetes screening, and diagnostic tests, including KFT, LFT, Lipid Profile, and HbA1C.<\/strong> IEC materials such as diet charts were also distributed, alongside interactive counselling sessions on diabetes prevention, management, and lifestyle modification. A total of 156 patients attended and benefitted from the services.<\/p>\n

Addressing the gathering, the Director stressed the importance of early detection and public awareness, noting that diabetes has become a major health challenge globally, affecting nearly 11% of the world\u2019s population and impacting society and the economy beyond the medical sector.<\/p>\n

The programme was attended by the Principal of the Dental College, Dean (Academics), HoDs, faculty, staff, and students of RIMS.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
