Pooja Elangbam<\/strong>, on Wednesday chaired a series of important meetings at the Mini Secretariat Complex, focusing on narcotics control, transgender welfare, and social protection programmes.<\/p>\n<p>In the <strong>NCORD Committee Meeting<\/strong>, the DC reviewed district-level measures against narcotics, including poppy cultivation, enforcement activities, welfare support for drug users, tracking of drug-abuse patients, regulation of drug stores, and awareness drives in schools and colleges. The SP, DFO, and other officials attended the meeting.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5714\" src=\"https:\/\/ichelnewsnetwork.com\/Ichel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-11-19-at-3.50.26-PM-2-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5715\" src=\"https:\/\/ichelnewsnetwork.com\/Ichel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-11-19-at-3.50.26-PM-1-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The DC also chaired a meeting on SOGIESC and the implementation of The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019. Discussions highlighted the need for transgender-inclusive services across key sectors. A District Level Transgender\u00a0 Protection Cell will soon be formed to strengthen support mechanisms.<\/p>\n<p>Later, the District Planning Committee reviewed and recommended beneficiaries for welfare schemes for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), destitute senior citizens, and widows.<\/p>\n<p>A physical assessment camp for PwDs and senior citizens began today at the DDRC, DC Office Complex, and will continue across the district until December 1.
