<\/p>\nThe 15th Manipur Polo International 2025 concluded today at the iconic Mapal Kangjeibung (Imphal Pologround), celebrating its grand return after a two-year hiatus. India Polo Team-B (Manipur) lifted the championship trophy with an impressive 8\u20135 victory over Colombia in the final match.<\/p>\n

Organised by the Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association (MHRPA), this year\u2019s tournament began on 22 November and featured five participating teams \u2014 the United States, Colombia, India-A, India-C (Chhattisgarh), and India-B (Manipur). The competition was held as part of the Manipur Sangai Festival 2025.<\/p>\n
Manipur Governor Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla graced the closing ceremony and inaugurated the final match with the ceremonial throw-in. Accompanied by First Lady Smt. Jyoti Bhalla, the Governor later presented trophies and awards to the winners and runners-up. He also released the souvenir of the 15th Manipur Polo International.<\/p>\n
The Governor commended the players for their skill, passion, and sportsmanship, noting the significance of hosting international teams at the world\u2019s oldest active polo ground. The event also highlighted Manipur\u2019s rich equestrian heritage and its recognised status as the birthplace of modern polo.<\/p>\n
Prof. Ch. Priyoranjan Singh, Chairman of the Steering Committee, described this edition as one of the most exciting in recent years. He praised the rapid development of polo talent in the state, noting that Manipuri players are now capable of competing strongly against top teams from countries like Colombia and the United States.<\/p>\n
Expressing satisfaction over the revival of the tournament after COVID-19 disruptions, he voiced optimism for even greater international participation in the coming years and emphasised that the growing popularity of polo in Manipur will further support the conservation of the indigenous Manipuri pony.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
