The Office of the Superintendent of Police, Thoubal District, has issued a circular directing all schools, colleges, and institutes to strictly discourage students below 18 years of age from driving motor vehicles, especially while wearing school uniforms. The order comes after the police observed a rising trend of underage students driving without valid licences, which is a violation of the Motor Vehicles Act.<\/p>\n
In the circular dated December 1, 2025, SP Manoj Prabhakar M, IPS urged educational institutions to sensitise their students about legal requirements and the risks associated with underage driving. Parents and guardians have also been advised not to allow their children to operate any motor vehicle without meeting the required legal norms.<\/p>\n
The circular further states that the police will take action as per the law against such violations. Additionally, a special drive against underage and unlicensed driving will commence from December 8, 2025 onward across Thoubal district.<\/p>\n
All Officers-in-Charge of police stations have been instructed to circulate the directive to all schools, colleges, and institutes within their jurisdiction. Copies of the circular have also been sent to the District Magistrate, Zonal Education Officer, and other key officials for necessary action.<\/p>\n
