15 Acres of Illegal Poppy Cultivation Destroyed in Tengnoupal District

Security Forces conducted an anti-narcotics operation in the Khudei Khullen hill range under Tengnoupal Police Station, Tengnoupal district, on Monday, leading to the destruction of approximately 15 acres of illegal poppy cultivation.

During the operation, troops also destroyed one hut, one temporary irrigation setup, and three chemical spraying pumps found at the site. All items were dismantled and burnt on the spot.

The drive forms part of the ongoing efforts to curb illegal poppy plantation and combat narcotics activities in the region.

26 Acres of Illicit Poppy Cultivation Destroyed in Kangpokpi District

Security Forces, in coordination with the Kangpokpi Forest Division, carried out a major anti-poppy operation on Monday, destroying approximately 26 acres of illicit poppy cultivation in the Holjang hill ranges of Kangpokpi district.

During the operation, a total of 17 huts found within the cultivation site were burnt down. The team also destroyed around seven bags of fertilizers and three bags of salt, which were reportedly used for poppy cultivation.

The drive is part of ongoing efforts by Security Forces and the Forest Department to curb illegal poppy plantation and protect forest areas from further degradation.

PREPAK (PRO) Cadre Arrested in Imphal West for Extortion, Illegal Mediation

Security forces on Sunday arrested an active cadre of PREPAK (PRO), Khuraijam Shyam Singh alias Mangal (37), from his residence at Lairensajik Mamang Leikai in Imphal West district.

He was allegedly involved in extortion activities in the valley areas and in illegal settlement and mediation of cases related to crimes against women.

One mobile phone was seized from his possession. Further investigation is underway.

10 Acres of Poppy Plantation Destroyed in Senapati

Manipur Police conducted an extensive poppy destruction drive from November 14 to 15 across the Kangjang Hill range in Senapati district. During the operation, approximately 10 acres of poppy plantation were destroyed, and three huts found at the sites were also burnt down.

The drive is part of the ongoing state-wide crackdown on illegal poppy cultivation.

IAF Conducts Routine Exercise; Airport Operations Normal

Planned Power Shutdown in Heingang Feeder Areas on Nov 14–15

The Imphal Electrical Division-IV of Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) has announced a planned power shutdown for consumers under the 11 KV Heingang Feeder.

According to the press release, the shutdown will be carried out on 14 and 15 November 2025, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, to facilitate re-conductoring of 11 KV lines under the RDSS project at Khabam.

The areas to be affected are Achanbigei, Khabam, Heingang Awang, Luwangsangbam Makha, and Matai. MSPDCL has requested consumers to bear with the inconvenience caused during the maintenance work.

Jan Sunwai Held in Pherzawl Ahead of National Tribal Celebration

The District Administration Pherzawl organised a Jan Sunwai at the Adi Sewa Kendra on Thursday as part of the nationwide Jan Jatiya Gaurav Varsh celebrations marking the 150th birth anniversary of tribal freedom hero Bhagwan Birsa Munda.

Deputy Commissioner Mannaumching, IAS, led the programme with a floral tribute to Birsa Munda and other tribal freedom fighters. PRI members, self-help groups, youth clubs, Adi Karmayogi cadres and representatives from local institutions actively participated in the event.

The Jan Sunwai, held ahead of the Special Gram Sabha and National Celebration on November 15, reviewed the district’s development priorities and the progress of tribal-focused schemes including PM-JANMAN, DAJGUA and the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan.

Deputy Commissioner Mannaumching and Joel G. Haokip, Nodal Officer and ADC, assessed ongoing projects, issued follow-up instructions and emphasised the need for stronger inter-departmental coordination to accelerate developmental initiatives in the district.

The programme concluded with an appeal for collective effort to ensure effective implementation of welfare schemes aimed at uplifting tribal communities.

The State Central Library, Imphal has announced that the 32nd Imphal Book Fair 2025 will be held from December 15 to 24 at the campus of the State Central Library and Manipur State Archives, Keishampat.

Interested book firms, companies, and agencies can register for book stalls from November 13 to 25, 2025, at the office of the State Central Library during office hours, excluding Saturdays and Sundays.

The event is organized by the Imphal Book Fair Committee.

Union Minister Ajay Tamta Meets Manipur Governor, Discusses Road Connectivity

Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta called on Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, on Wednesday evening.

The meeting focused on strengthening road connectivity across Manipur, including hilly and interior areas. They discussed ongoing projects implemented by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) and their impact on improving access, trade, and economic growth.

Both the Governor and the Minister emphasized the importance of timely completion of road projects to ensure balanced development in the state. The Minister also briefed the Governor about his visit to Pherzawl district earlier in the day.
