JAC, CSOs Demand Swift Justice in the Murder of Chesam Abdul Kadir
In a joint meeting held at Paobitek, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) Against the Missing of Chesam Abdul Kadir @ Achouba, along with various civil society organisations and local residents, strongly condemned the alleged cold-blooded murder of Abdul Kadir, a non-verbal person with disability who had gone missing earlier this month.
The meeting, chaired by JAC advisor Alhaj Moulana Najimuddin, unanimously passed five resolutions demanding swift justice and accountability in the case.
Abdul Kadir went missing on the night of June 10 at around 11:30 p.m. from his residence in Paobitek Mayai Leikai. He was the son of Chesam Abdul Jalin. After days of intense police search and investigation, his body was discovered buried near the banks of the Nambul River at Samurou.
Those present at the meeting condemned the act in the strongest terms and passed the following resolutions:
1. The people of Manipur and all associated CSOs strongly denounce the cold blooded murder and secret burial of Abdul Kadir.
2. The main accused and others involved in the case must be arrested within 24 hours. Until their arrest, the family and JAC will not accept the body of the deceased.
3. Arambai Tenggol Unit 27 QRT must be immediately disbanded and cease operations.
4. Peaceful, democratic protests will continue across the state in response to the killing.
5. Unless the main accused, identified as Longjam Khaba, along with others involved, are arrested and punished under IPC Section 302, the people will continue with their pdemocratic protest movements.
The JAC called on the government and law enforcement to act swiftly and prevent further unrest. The incident has sparked widespread concern across communities, with appeals for calm and justice to prevail.
