Major Cache of Arms and Ammunition Recovered in Manipur Hills: Security Forces Conduct Joint Operation

In a significant development, security forces comprising Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, Indian Army, and other Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) recovered a major cache of arms and ammunition during coordinated search operations in the hill districts of Manipur. The operations, which commenced from the midnight of July 3 and continued into the morning of July 4, targeted multiple locations across Tengnoupal, Kangpokpi, Chandel, and Churachandpur districts.

The joint action was launched based on specific intelligence inputs indicating the presence of a large quantity of arms, ammunition, and other warlike materials concealed in interior locations. The operations led to the recovery of a total of 203 weapons, including sophisticated and locally made firearms.

Recovered Weapons Include:

  1. 21 Insas rifles
  2. 11 AK series rifles
  3. 26 SLRs
  4. 17 .303 rifles
  5. 38 Pompi guns
  6. 18 single-shot breech-loaded firearms
  7. 6 pistols
  8. 2 sniper rifles
  9. 3 country-made pistols
  10. 4 muzzle-loaded rifles
  11. Other assorted arms including carbines, grenades, and launchers

Ammunition and Explosives Seized:

  1. 29 rounds of 5.56 mm
  2. 80 rounds of 7.62 mm
  3. 30 IEDs
  4. 10 grenades
  5. 9 pompi shells
  6. 2 lathode grenades

Authorities described the haul as a “significant achievement” in the ongoing effort to restore peace and stability in the violence-affected hill regions. The Manipur Police emphasized their commitment to maintaining public order and urged the public to report any suspicious activity or information related to illegal arms.

Senior police officials reaffirmed that such operations would continue in a sustained and focused manner to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
