Nganthoi Sharma Kongbrailatpam and Lamnunthem Singson,Two Manipuri Crew members among the Victims of Ahmedabad Plane Crash
A devastating plane crash occurred in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, involving an Air India flight bound for London. The aircraft, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, killing all 242 people on board, including 2 pilots and 10 cabin crew members.
Two cabin crew members from Manipur, Nganthoi Sharma Kongbrailatpam and Lamnunthem Singson, are feared dead among the casualties. One is from Thoubal and another is from Kangpokpi. Lamnunthem is from Old Lambulane and is currently an IDP at Kangpokpi. Some sources says Lamnunthem Singson is in ICU. The flight, AI171, went down in the Meghaninagar area near the airport around 1:17 PM.
Emergency response teams and fire brigades were quickly deployed to the crash site to douse the massive fire that erupted after the crash. According to reports, around 50 British nationals were among the passengers on board.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched an investigation into the tragic incident. The cause of the crash is yet to be officially confirmed. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was reportedly among the passengers.
