NPO Announces Economic Blockade Towards Kangpokpi Areas Over Desecration Incident
Senapati, November 4: The Naga People’s Organisation (NPO) has announced that it will take a drastic course of action by completely halting all forms of economic supply towards Kangpokpi areas within 48 hours, effective from the midnight of November 5.
The decision came in response to the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) advisory statement issued following NPO’s press release on October 31, 2025. The earlier statement had condemned the incidents of October 29 and 30 at Daili village near Kangpokpi, where the poster of the respected Naga leader Eno Th. Muivah was allegedly desecrated twice and a huge firecracker was detonated, causing panic among residents. The NPO termed the act as “deeply regrettable.”
The organisation said that if CoTU considers itself a responsible body, it must act with honesty and integrity in addressing the issue. “Otherwise, one is compelled to ask if not the Kukis, then who else raised the slogans ‘We want Kuki Land’ and ‘We demand Kuki Land’?” the NPO questioned.
However, the NPO clarified that it does not blame the entire Kuki-Zo community. “We have urged the concerned community-based civil society organisations to identify and present the culprits to our office,” it stated.
The NPO further alleged that the incident was a deliberate and calculated attempt to insult and dishonour the “living legendary leader” of the Nagas. It said that in order to protect the dignity, integrity, and safety of the Naga people, the organisation would go ahead with the decision to halt all economic supplies passing towards Kangpokpi areas within 48 hours.
