Mumbai, March 27: The Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) 2024-25 National Group Stage witnessed two thrilling encounters on Thursday at the Reliance Corporate Park in Mumbai. Mohun Bagan Super Giant secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Muthoot FA, while Classic FA stunned Sreenidi Deccan FC with a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory.

In the opening match of the day, Mohun Bagan capitalized on an early mistake by Muthoot FA as Vian Murgod opened the scoring in the 20th minute. Muthoot equalized before half-time through Abith K B, who converted a penalty. However, the Mariners regained their lead shortly after the restart when Leimapokpam Sibajit Singh converted a penalty after Amandeep was fouled in the box. Mohun Bagan maintained their composure to preserve the lead and continue their perfect run in the tournament.

The afternoon clash between Classic FA and Sreenidi Deccan FC was a rollercoaster. Sreenidi took the lead in the 10th minute through Levis Zangminlun, but Classic FA responded with a 22nd-minute equalizer by Bharat Lairenjam. Late in the game, Sreenidi regained the lead through substitute Embokhlang Nongkhlaw in the 85th minute, only for Classic FA to turn the game around dramatically. Blessing Keishing netted the equalizer in stoppage time (90+1′) after a goalkeeping error, and captain Yendrembam Rohit Singh sealed the win with a late strike in the 90+5th minute.

Earlier on Wednesday, NorthEast United FC edged past FC Goa 1-0, with Gunleiba Wangkheirakpam scoring the decisive goal in the 70th minute following a well-worked short corner.
