Security Forces Recover Arms, Explosives During Operations in Churachandpur
As part of intensified security measures across Manipur, security forces carried out search operations and area domination in fringe and vulnerable areas of both hill and valley districts. These operations are aimed at curbing the presence of armed elements and preventing any escalation of violence in the region.
During one such operation conducted in the general area of Khuangmun under Churachandpur Police Station in Churachandpur district, a substantial cache of arms and explosive materials was recovered. The recovered items included a .303 rifle with an empty magazine, four single barrel guns, and three modified long-range mortars. In addition, two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), weighing approximately 3 kg and 1 kg respectively, were found along with two live Pompi bomb shells.
The security forces also recovered two bulletproof jackets, two bulletproof plates, a helmet, two ammunition pouches, and a Baofeng radio set during the operation. These recoveries indicate the presence and movement of armed miscreants in the area.
