Statewide Polio Immunization Drive Launched in Manipur
The Directorate of Family Welfare Services, in association with the State Health Society under the National Health Mission (NHM), Manipur, has launched the State-level Polio Sub-National Immunization Day (SNID) 2025 at the Family Welfare Complex, BT Road, Imphal.

The launch event was inaugurated by Dr. N. Bino, Director of Family Welfare Services, Manipur, who, along with Additional Director Dr. Somorjit Ningombam, former RIMS Medical Superintendent Dr. Y. Mohen, and Dr. Ksh. Memcha Devi, administered polio drops to children, marking the symbolic start of the statewide campaign. The immunization drive will continue till October 14.

In his address, Dr. Bino reiterated the importance of maintaining the state’s polio-free status through consistent immunization, even as India remains polio-free. He cautioned that neighbouring countries continue to report cases of the disease, underscoring the need for ongoing vigilance and public cooperation.
This year’s campaign aims to cover approximately 3.16 lakh children across Manipur through 3,167 immunization booths. Dr. Bino also noted that in the previous round of the campaign, more than 90 percent of eligible children were successfully vaccinated. He credited the achievement to the collective efforts of the Education and Social Welfare Departments, whose involvement ensured extensive community participation across the state.
