Union MoS Bandi Sanjay Kumar Assesses Developmental Progress of Churachandpur District
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Bandi Sanjay Kumar, on Wednesday reviewed the functioning of the Churachandpur District Administration through a video conference held at Hotel Classic Grande, Imphal.
During the review, the Minister assessed the district’s overall progress with a special focus on the condition of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in relief camps and the implementation of various central and state-sponsored schemes. He also took stock of key sectors, including health, education, agriculture, power, transport, handloom, and handicrafts, while enquiring about public grievances related to government services.

Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur, Shri Dharun Kumar S., briefed the Minister on ongoing projects and programmes. He informed that adequate facilities have been provided to IDPs and that efforts are underway to support their rehabilitation and livelihood.
Highlighting progress in education, the DC said the district has shown improvement at the higher secondary level with the presence of PM SHRI Schools, government and central institutions like Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and Kendriya Vidyalaya, alongside several private schools. The number of school dropouts has reduced in recent years due to administrative interventions. However, he noted that access to higher education institutions remains a challenge, and initiatives are being taken under public relations programmes to address the gap.
In the health sector, Shri Dharun Kumar stated that Churachandpur has its own medical college and continues to perform well in healthcare delivery despite limitations in super-specialty and tertiary care facilities.
Assuring continued support from the Centre, Shri Bandi Sanjay Kumar urged the district administration to place greater emphasis on agriculture and allied sectors such as horticulture and animal husbandry to create sustainable livelihoods and enhance self-reliance in the district.
