Resident Doctors at JNIMS Announce Boycott of Emergency and Routine Services Over Fee Hike
Imphal, 25 May 2025: In a significant escalation of their protest, the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal, has announced a boycott of emergency medical services starting from 9 AM on 26th May 2025 (Monday). This move follows the ongoing boycott of routine services, which began on 21st May 2025.
The decision comes after the administration failed to revert the annual fee for postgraduate courses from ₹3 lakhs to the original fee structure of ₹1 lakh for three years, as applicable to the October 2022 batch. The RDA termed the fee hike implemented in 2022 as “unjust.”
The press release, jointly signed by RDA office bearers including Dr. Shubham Pandey (General Secretary), Dr. Anand Kh (President), Dr. Rakesh, and Dr. Krishnapriya (Vice Presidents), emphasized that the boycott was the result of prolonged efforts to resolve the issue through dialogue.
“We are aware and empathetic towards the prevailing situation of the state,” the RDA stated. “Please be assured that we remain committed to stepping in and providing the necessary care to those in need.”
The doctors have called upon the authorities to urgently address their concerns and restore the original fee structure to prevent further disruption of essential healthcare services.
