44 MLAs Ready to Form Government, Says BJP MLA Th. Radheshyam
Imphal, May 28: In a significant political development in Manipur, BJP MLA Thokchom Radheshyam Singh on Wednesday announced that 44 MLAs have expressed their readiness to form a popular government in the state, aligning with the aspirations of the people. However, the final nod is awaited from the central leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Speaking to the media after a delegation of 10 MLAs met Governor Ajay Bhalla at the Raj Bhavan, Radheshyam stated, “All 44 MLAs have agreed to form a popular government as per the wishes of the people. We have conveyed this to the Governor and discussed possible solutions for the ongoing issues.”
He emphasized that the visit was a representation of the collective will of the legislators. “Ten of us met the Governor to explain our position on behalf of all MLAs. The Governor listened and assured to take necessary actions in the interest of the people,” said the legislator from Heirok constituency.
On being asked about when would formally stake claim to form the government, Radheshyam clarified, “As a national party, the final decision lies with the central leadership. However, stating that we are ready is itself a form of staking claim.”
Highlighting the pressing issues facing Manipur, he noted, “People are suffering. We lost two years to COVID-19 in the last term and another two years to the conflict in this term. It’s time we rebuild and serve the people.”
