50 Acres of Illegal Poppy Plantation Destroyed in Ukhrul District
In a significant achievement in the ongoing war on drugs, a combined team comprising Ukhrul district police, the 6th Manipur Rifles, the Army, and the Forest Department carried out a major operation that led to the destruction of 50 acres of illegal poppy cultivation in the Mullam Kuki Village hill range under the jurisdiction of Litan Police Station. During the operation, four illicit huts used in the cultivation process were also set ablaze.
An FIR has been registered, and further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for the illegal activities.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh lauded the coordinated efforts of the security forces and departments involved, emphasizing the government’s commitment to eradicating drug-related activities in the state. “I commend the combined efforts of the team for their dedication in the ongoing war on drugs. Let us stand united in this fight to reclaim our hills, our values, and our dignity,” he stated.
