Assam Rifles Organizes Multiple Medical and Dental Camps Across Manipur to Aid Local Communities
Manipur, March 28: In a significant humanitarian effort, the Assam Rifles has conducted a series of medical and dental camps across various regions of Manipur over the past week, providing much-needed healthcare support to internally displaced persons and residents of remote villages.
These outreach programs were aimed at promoting health and well-being, while also strengthening the bond between security forces and local communities. The camps offered free medical consultations, treatment for common ailments such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, abdominal pain, fever, and upper respiratory tract infections (URTI), along with distribution of essential medications. Bedridden patients were also provided with necessary medical aids including lumbar belts, knee caps, and rehabilitation materials.
At Dorcas Veng village in Churachandpur district, 672 individuals—including 139 males, 248 females, and 285 children—benefitted from the camp. The initiative was led by Assam Rifles medical personnel, including a dentist and paramedical staff, and supported by volunteers from the local Village Authority and youth groups. Notably, 96 patients received specialized dental care during the event.
In Kwatha village of Tengnoupal district, the Assam Rifles collaborated with health professionals from the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) to conduct a medical camp that served 64 villagers—27 males, 32 females, and 5 children. The focus was not only on treatment but also on raising awareness about general health and hygiene.
Another camp was held at Singngat village in Churachandpur district, in collaboration with the Community Health Centre (CHC) Singngat. This camp particularly prioritized vulnerable groups such as senior citizens, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children. A total of 160 individuals—90 males and 70 females and children—received necessary medical care.
Grateful villagers across all locations expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of the Assam Rifles. These health camps underline the Assam Rifles’ continued commitment to public service and community welfare in challenging and underserved regions of Manipur.
