BJP MLA Munirathna Booked for Alleged Gang Rape, Coercion, and Injection with Deadly Substance
Bengaluru, May 22, 2025 — Bengaluru police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Munirathna following grave allegations made by a 40-year-old woman, who claims she was gang-raped, injected with a deadly substance, and subjected to extreme physical and mental abuse by the legislator and his associates.
The FIR was filed on May 22, 2025, at the RMC Yard police station in northwestern Bengaluru. The woman, identifying herself as a BJP worker, alleges the incident occurred on June 11, 2023, at Munirathna’s office in Mathikere.
According to the complaint, Munirathna and three of his associates—identified as Vasantha, Channakeshawa, and one unnamed individual—abducted her under the pretense of helping resolve criminal charges allegedly filed against her at the MLA’s behest. Once at his office, she alleges the men forcibly stripped her, gang-raped her, urinated on her face, and threatened her with death should she speak out.
Most disturbingly, the woman claims Munirathna personally injected her with an unknown substance, which she suspects was a deadly virus. She says she was later diagnosed with an “incurable disease,” though police have yet to release further medical details.
The charges filed under the Indian Penal Code include:
- 376D: Gang rape
- 270: Malignant act likely to spread infection
- 323: Voluntarily causing hurt
- 354: Assault to outrage modesty
- 504: Intentional insult to provoke breach of peace
- 506: Criminal intimidation
- 509: Insult to the modesty of a woman
- 34: Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention
As of now, no arrests have been made in the case, and Munirathna has not issued any public statement regarding the allegations.
