Eklavya Model Residential School Inaugurated at Riha Village, Kamjong
A new milestone in promoting tribal education was achieved today with the inauguration of the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) at Riha Village in Kamjong District. Hon’ble MLA Shri Leishiyo Keishing graced the event as Chief Guest, joined by Shri Rangnamei Rang Peter, Deputy Commissioner of Kamjong, along with SDOs, SDCs, district-level officers, school authorities, and local leaders.
The programme began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Hon’ble MLA, followed by a welcome address from Shri Charuk Haji, who emphasized the role of EMRS in enhancing educational opportunities for tribal students.



In his address, Shri Leishiyo Keishing expressed appreciation to the residents of Riha for their cooperation in setting up the institution. He highlighted the importance of value-based and disciplined education in shaping responsible citizens and urged teachers to mentor students with commitment and care. He also called upon community elders to continue supporting the school’s growth.
Deputy Commissioner Shri Rangnamei Rang Peter, in his speech, noted that the EMRS will provide a quality learning environment through its residential facilities and improved teacher-student ratio. He encouraged educators to uphold excellence in both academic and character development, contributing to the overall upliftment of tribal youth.
The inauguration marked a significant step towards strengthening inclusive and equitable education in Kamjong District.
