Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla Inaugurates State Krishi Mela 2025 in Imphal
Imphal, March 25, 2025 – Governor of Manipur, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, inaugurated the State Krishi Mela 2025 today at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Sanglen, Palace Compound, Imphal. The event, organized by the State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Manipur, and the Department of Agriculture, aims to showcase advancements in agriculture, innovative techniques, and government support schemes for farmers.
During the event, Governor Bhalla interacted with participants from various districts and departments, exploring local products, agricultural equipment, and farm-related innovations on display. He engaged with exhibitors to understand the applications and benefits of the showcased advancements.
In his address, the Governor emphasized that agriculture remains the backbone of Manipur’s economy and plays a crucial role in the state’s development. He highlighted that the State Krishi Mela serves as a vital platform for sharing knowledge, innovations, and government schemes aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity.
Acknowledging the progress in farming techniques, sustainability, and mechanization, he urged for continued efforts to improve efficiency and yield. He also stressed the significant role of the Central Agricultural University (CAU) in advancing research and development in the agricultural sector. The government, he added, remains committed to supporting farmers through seeds, guidance, subsidies, and financial assistance.
As part of the event, Governor Bhalla distributed benefits to beneficiaries under various government schemes. The inaugural function was attended by Dr. Anupam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor of Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, and Arun Kumar Sinha, Principal Secretary (Agriculture), Government of Manipur, among other dignitaries.
The State Krishi Mela 2025 is expected to provide farmers with valuable insights, exposure to modern agricultural practices, and access to resources for improving their productivity and livelihood.
