Governor Chairs 10th State-Level NCORD Meeting, Calls for Stronger Coordinated Action Against Narcotics
Governor of Manipur, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, today chaired the 10th State Level NCORD meeting at the Conference Hall of Raj Bhavan, Imphal. The Chief Secretary, DGP, senior government officials, and representatives of various law enforcement and security agencies attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed the current situation and emerging trends related to narcotics trafficking, illicit poppy and cannabis cultivation, and drug abuse in the State. Detailed presentations were made by the Police, Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB), and other line departments.
Governor Bhalla stressed the need for close coordination among all enforcement and security agencies to dismantle trafficking networks, strengthen border surveillance, and intensify intelligence-led operations in vulnerable districts and transit routes. He directed departments to accelerate the destruction of illicit plantations, improve prosecution and conviction rates, and integrate supply-reduction and demand-reduction strategies across all levels.
The meeting also resolved to explore the use of advanced technologies—such as scanners, surveillance systems, and specialised detection equipment—to curb the movement of narcotics. Upgrading treatment and rehabilitation facilities, expanding community-based awareness programmes, and strengthening district-level NCORD mechanisms were identified as key components of a comprehensive and long-term response to the drug problem in Manipur.
