Governor of Manipur Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla today graced the State-Level Conclave on the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC) 2025 held at the City Convention Centre, Palace Compound, Imphal. The event was organised by NABARD in collaboration with the Department of Cooperation as part of the 72nd All India Cooperative Week Celebration 2025, under the national theme “Sahkar Se Samriddhi — Prosperity through Cooperation.”
The Governor inaugurated the exhibition and visited stalls set up by various districts, appreciating the creativity, craftsmanship and economic potential showcased by cooperative artisans and producer groups. He also presented awards to the best-performing Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) under the CSPCP initiative.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that the declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives reflects global acknowledgement of cooperatives as key drivers of inclusive development. He emphasised that cooperatives are not just economic units but instruments of social equity, resilience and shared prosperity. With its natural resources and strong community networks, Manipur, he stated, is well placed to harness the transformative potential of the cooperative movement.
The Governor also highlighted the Government of India’s ongoing reforms to strengthen the cooperative sector, including the establishment of the Ministry of Cooperation, digital modernisation of PACS and initiatives focused on transparency, professionalism, financial discipline and technology-driven governance.
The programme was attended by Dr. Shailesh Kumar Chourasia, Commissioner (Cooperation), Partha Mandal, General Manager, NABARD Manipur RO, senior officers of the Department of Cooperation, NABARD officials, cooperative leaders and representatives from various districts.
