Hmar Inpui Condemns Assault on General Secretary, Issues Ultimatum to Perpetrators

Imphal March 17, 2025: The Hmar Inpui has strongly condemned the brutal assault on its General Secretary, Richard Laltanpuia Hmar, and issued an ultimatum demanding the perpetrators to surrender before 10:00 AM today at its office in Rengkai. The apex Hmar body has warned that failure to comply will compel it to take its own course of action.

According to a statement issued by Hmar Inpui, Richard Laltanpuia Hmar was attacked on the night of March 16, 2025 (Sunday), around 7:30 PM, near VK Montessori School, Zenhang Lamka. He was reportedly blindfolded and beaten by a group of unidentified men, even after revealing his identity. The assault left him with severe injuries, and he is currently undergoing medical treatment for excessive bleeding.

Expressing outrage, the Hmar Inpui described the attack as a “contemptuous and cowardly act” against a community leader. “At this critical juncture, such an insensible provocation is unacceptable and a disgrace to the community,” the statement read.

Reiterating its firm stance, the Hmar Inpui has warned that it will not remain silent if justice is not served. The identity and motives of the attackers remain unclear, but the organization has vowed to take necessary steps if the perpetrators fail to surrender.
