Hostel Warden Accused of Physically Assaulting Students at Lilong School Hostel
A serious case of physical assault involving students of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalaya (Boys’ Hostel), Lilong, has come to light. According to a report submitted by the Lilong Police Station to the Child Welfare Committee, Thoubal, the hostel warden, identified as Md. Ajimuddin, allegedly assaulted a group of hostel students within the hostel premises on the night of September 27, 2025.
As per the report filed by Ksh. Biswajit Singh, Deputy Inspector of Schools and Coordinator of NCSBAV, Lilong Block, around 15 students were subjected to severe beatings with a stick between 10:40 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Some students, terrified by the assault, fled the hostel and were later rescued by locals near National Highway No. 102, close to Lilong Bazar.
Medical officers and school authorities confirmed visible injuries on the victims. The incident reportedly caused widespread fear and unrest among the students. The police also recorded photographic and medical evidence, as well as statements from witnesses and parents.
The report highlighted that the use of corporal punishment is a gross violation of the Educational Guidelines of the Department of Education, Manipur. The police have been urged to take legal action against the accused warden under relevant laws, including the Juvenile Justice Act.
