Inquiry Committee Formed to Probe Incident Involving Media Bus at Shirui Festival

Imphal, May 21, 2025 — The Government of Manipur has constituted an official Inquiry Committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding a recent incident involving security personnel and a Manipur State Road Transport bus carrying media personnel en route to the Manipur Shirui Festival 2025. The incident occurred on May 20 near the Gwalatabi checkpoint in Imphal East District.

According to an order issued by the Home Department, the committee has been tasked with examining the facts of the incident, identifying any lapses, and recommending measures to prevent recurrence. The committee comprises Shri N. Ashok Kumar, Commissioner (Home), and Shri Th. Kirankumar Singh, Secretary (IT), both of the Government of Manipur.

The Inquiry Committee has been directed to submit its findings within 15 days.

The official order was issued under the authority of the Governor of Manipur and signed by Chief Secretary P.K. Singh.
