The District Administration Kakching, led by Shri Rohit Anand, IAS, in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office, today observed the 5th anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan at the DC Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat, Kakching.

Officials of the DC Office, including ADM P. Shantikumar Singh, AC to DC, SDCs, the DSWO team and NIC officials, took a pledge for a Drug-Free India during the programme. Participants also viewed a live webcast of the main event held at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjab.

Similar observances were also held at the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCAs) and Child Care Institutions (CCIs) across the district, where staff and participants took the drug-free pledge and viewed the live webcast. The events were organised by the DSWO and District Child Protection Unit (DCPO), Social Welfare Department.

Meanwhile, the Zonal Education Office (ZEO), in collaboration with the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) Cell of the District Health Society Kakching and District Police, has initiated a “yellow line campaign” in various schools.

The NTCP yellow marking draws a thick yellow line 100 yards (300 feet) around educational institutions to mark a tobacco-free zone, where the sale of tobacco products is strictly prohibited under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003.
