KANAM Demands Removal of NPP Manipur President Over ‘Hate Speech’
Imphal, March 14: The Kuki Alliance for Nampi Awakening (KANAM) has strongly condemned Manipur Pradesh NPP President and former DGP Yumnam Joykumar Singh for his alleged hate speech against the Kuki-Zo community, calling for his immediate removal from his position.
In a scathing statement, KANAM accused Joykumar of making “an open declaration of hostility” against the Kuki-Zo people and demanded an official response from the National People’s Party (NPP).
“Does the party endorse its Manipur president’s hate-filled speech, or will it act and remove him from his position?” KANAM questioned, adding that the NPP’s silence will be seen as complicity in the ethnic tensions engulfing the state.
The group further accused Joykumar of having a tainted record during his tenure as Manipur’s Director General of Police (DGP), alleging his involvement in fake encounters and human rights violations.
KANAM also criticized the Meitei leadership, claiming it has suppressed tribal rights and turned Manipur into a state of “mob rule and ethnic terror.”
The Kuki alliance reaffirmed its demand for separation from Manipur, stating that co-existence under the current leadership is “no longer an option.”
With tensions rising, all eyes are now on the NPP’s response—will the party act against its Manipur chief, or will it risk being seen as endorsing his controversial remarks?
