Kshetrigao MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan Condemns Waqf Amendment Act 2025, Vows to Challenge in Supreme Court
Imphal, April 7: Kshetrigao MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan has strongly opposed the recently enacted Waqf Amendment Act 2025, asserting that the law infringes upon the constitutional rights of minority Muslims in India, particularly the Pangal community in Manipur.
Today, in a video released to the public, the MLA expressed deep concern over the implications of the Act, which was passed by both Houses of Parliament and later received presidential assent. “The Waqf Amendment Bill 2025, which was passed in both Houses of Parliament and later turned into an Act, violates the rights of minority Muslims in India, as well as my beloved Pangal community. I personally condemn and reject this Act. I will soon challenge it in the Supreme Court,” Sheikh Noorul Hassan stated.
The Waqf Amendment Act 2025 has already sparked debate across the country, with minority groups and rights activists raising concerns over its broader impact on Waqf properties and community autonomy.
