Maibam Premjit Arrested as Truck Carrying Codeine-Based Cough Syrup Seized in Jiribam

A joint law enforcement team seized 1,560 bottles of WINCEREX cough syrup containing codeine phosphate from a truck (AS03CC-0252) during a NAKA operation at 4:00 PM yesterday.

The operation, led by SI A. Krishna Sharma of Jiribam District Police’s Special Mobile Patrol Unit, involved personnel from 38 Assam Rifles, 87 BN QAT, and 156 BN CRPF. The 13-box consignment was confiscated, and the driver, Maibam Premjit Singh (52), was arrested.

A case has been registered under FIR No. 06(02) 2025 JBM PS u/s 21(b)/60(3) ND&PS Act, with further investigations ongoing.
