Man Arrested for Threatening Manipur Police Personnel in Viral Video
Manipur Police have arrested a cadre of the banned outfit KCP (City Meitei) for allegedly issuing threats against state security personnel in a viral social media video. The arrest was confirmed in an official statement issued by the Manipur Police.
According to the statement, a suo moto case was registered after the video surfaced online on February 21, 2025. The video, suspected to have been recorded in Bishnupur district, shows an unidentified man openly threatening Manipur State Forces, particularly commando personnel. He warned the police against arresting Meitei village volunteers and questioned their safety off duty.
Following an investigation in coordination with Manipur Police Cybercrime, the individual in the video was identified as Moirangthem Thoiba alias Olen Singh (36), son of M. Merajoa Singh of Thamnapokpi Mamang Leikai, Ward No. 4. The suspect was detained from Thamnapokpi around 10:00 AM on February 22, 2025, and subsequently arrested after verification.
The police statement further revealed that Thoiba is a cadre of KCP (City Meitei) and a deserter of the banned outfit PLA. He reportedly joined KCP (City Meitei) Apunba in June 2023. During interrogation, he admitted to recording the video at Thamnapokpi with his associate, identified as Saikhom Lembus, son of S. Sobha Singh of Chingkhu, Sagolmang, Imphal East.
The arrested individual has been handed over to Bishnupur Police Station for further legal action. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
