Manipur Congress President Slams BJP-Led Government, Calls for Governor’s Recall and Amit Shah’s Resignation
Imphal, May 26, 2025 — In a strongly worded Facebook post, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President and MLA Keisham Meghachandra launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led state and central governments, questioning recent developments in the conflict-ridden state.
Highlighting the bizarre incident where the Manipur Governor had to take a helicopter to travel just 7 kilometers from Imphal International Airport to Raj Bhavan, Meghachandra wrote, “Who instructed the Manipur Governor to remove the word ‘Manipur’ from the Manipur State Transport Corporation bus?”
Calling it symbolic of the state’s worsening law and order situation, he said, “The double-engine government has already failed Manipur for the last more than 2 years.” He further criticized the imposition of President’s Rule, claiming it too had failed to bring peace or governance.
The Congress leader held Prime Minister Narendra Modi accountable for what he described as repeated failures to address the ongoing violence and breakdown of administration in Manipur. He demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and called for the recall of the Manipur Governor.
These remarks come amid continued ethnic tensions and security challenges in the state, where civilian safety and governance have been under question since 2023. The Congress party has consistently criticized the BJP for its handling of the situation.
