Manipur Police Arrests Man for Selling Pre-Activated Black SIM Cards on Fake Identities
Manipur Police have arrested a 27-year-old man, Takhellambam Sanatonba Meitei, a resident of Lousangkhong Mayai Leikai under Porompat Police Station, Imphal East, for allegedly selling pre-activated black SIM cards using fake and fabricated identities.
According to the police, the arrest was made following intelligence inputs about illegal SIM card activities. During the operation, law enforcement officers recovered multiple incriminating items, including a registered agreement and an affidavit on non-judicial stamp papers, along with a BSNL retailer identity card and an Aadhaar card in the accused’s name. A total of 55 suspected black SIM cards were seized, comprising 31 Airtel SIMs marked as MNP and 24 marked as 5G Plus. Additionally, four blank Jio SIM cards were confiscated, each bearing unique ICCID numbers.
Investigators also recovered a Xiaomi Mi-12 Pro mobile phone suspected to have been used in the illegal activities, along with a white cloth believed to have been used for photographs. Several biometric devices, including two Startek fingerprint scanners, one Mantra fingerprint scanner, and one SecuGen fingerprint scanner, were also seized. The police further found two seals marked as “Mobile Care,” raising suspicions of forged documentation.
